About Us
Universal Sompo General Insurance Company Limited (“Universal Sompo”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a joint venture general insurance company operating under the regulatory framework of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI).
Acceptance of Terms
By using our Services, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and possess the legal authority to form a legally binding contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872. If you are using the Services on behalf of an organization, you agree to these Terms on behalf of that organization and represent that you have the authority to do so.
Use of Services
Account Registration
To access certain features (such as downloading policy documents, filing claims, or renewing policies), you may need to register/ get verified through otp to avail these services. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information (including KYC details as required by IRDAI) and to update this information as necessary. You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
Login Credentials and Account Security
To enhance the security of user accounts and protect personal information, users shall comply with the following login and password requirements:
Password Requirements
Users creating or resetting a password must ensure that the password:
- Contains at least one (1) uppercase letter (A-Z);
- Contains at least one (1) numeric digit (0-9);
- Contains at least one (1) special character (for example, @, #, $, %, &, *);
- Is a minimum of twelve (12) characters and a maximum of fifteen (15) characters in length.
Account Lockout
- A user account shall be automatically locked if an incorrect password is entered three (3) consecutive times during login.
- Upon account lockout, the user must reset their password through the password reset mechanism made available on the login screen before access can be restored.
Inactive Accounts
- A user account that remains unused and inactive for a continuous period of three (3) months shall be automatically deactivated.
- To regain access to a deactivated account, the user must reset their password using the “Forgot Password” option available on the login page and complete any applicable authentication requirements.
Universal Sompo reserves the right to implement additional authentication, security verification, password management, or account protection measures from time to time in order to safeguard the Services, protect user data, and comply with applicable legal, regulatory, and cybersecurity requirements.
Permitted Use
You may use our Services only for lawful purposes, such as researching insurance products, obtaining quotes, purchasing policies, or managing your existing policies.
Prohibited Activities
You agree not to:
- Use the Services in any way that violates applicable local, national, or international law or regulation.
- Engage in any fraudulent activity, including providing false information for a policy quote or claim.
- Use automated systems (e.g., bots, spiders, scrapers) to extract data from our Services without our express written consent.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity, security, or performance of our Services.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the website or applications.
Insurance Products and Quotations
General Information
The information provided on the website regarding our insurance products is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute a legally binding offer to sell.
Subject to Underwriting
All applications for insurance are subject to the underwriting processes, terms, and conditions of Universal Sompo. The final premium calculation and issuance of a policy are strictly subject to the exact terms of the specific insurance product and final approval by the company.
Policy Documents Prevail
In the event of any discrepancy between the information on this website and your actual insurance policy document, the terms, conditions, and exclusions stated in your specific insurance policy document will prevail.
Online Payments and Premiums
- Payment Gateways: We use secure third-party payment gateways for online premium payments. By processing a payment, you agree to the terms and conditions of the respective payment gateway.
- Failed Transactions: Universal Sompo is not liable for any payment failures resulting from network issues, incorrect details provided by you, or actions taken by your bank. A policy is only considered active once the premium is successfully credited to our accounts.
- Refunds and Cancellations: Any cancellation of an insurance policy and subsequent refunds will be processed strictly in accordance with the terms laid out in your specific policy wordings and standard IRDAI guidelines.
Privacy and Data Protection
Your privacy is a fundamental priority within our risk control framework. Our collection, processing, and safeguarding of your personal data are governed by our Privacy Policy, which is strictly aligned with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023 and applicable IRDAI mandates. By using our Services, you consent to our data governance practices as detailed in the Privacy Policy.
Intellectual Property Rights
All content on the Services, including text, graphics, logos, button icons, images, audio clips, and software, is the property of Universal Sompo or its content suppliers and is protected by Indian and international copyright and trademark laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or modify any content without our prior written permission.

- Your access to or use of (or inability to access or use) the Services.
- Any unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content.
- Any pricing errors, typos, or calculation glitches in online premium quotes.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Universal Sompo and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Services.
Termination and Suspension
Your Right to Terminate
You are free to stop using our Services at any time. You may request to terminate or delete your digital account by navigating to your account settings or contacting our support team.
Please note: Deleting your digital portal account does not automatically terminate, surrender, or cancel any active insurance policies you hold with Universal Sompo. Policy cancellations remain subject to standard policy wordings and IRDAI guidelines.
Our Right to Suspend or Terminate
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to our Services, or delete your account, if we determine that:
- You have breached these Terms or our acceptable use guidelines.
- You have engaged in fraudulent activities, including providing fabricated information for policy issuance, KYC compliance, or claims processing.
- We are required to do so to comply with the law, regulatory directives, or court orders.
- Your continued use poses a security risk or harm to Universal Sompo’s digital infrastructure, our policyholders, or third parties.
- Your account has been inactive for an extended period (subject to advance notice, where applicable).
Appeals
If you believe your account was suspended or terminated in error, you may file an appeal by contacting our support team. We review all appeals objectively to ensure fair and lawful access to our digital services.
Modification of Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date. Your continued use of the Services after such modifications constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the use of the Services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
