Who we are

Universal Sompo is a joint venture between Allahabad Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Karnataka Bank Limited, Dabur Investments and Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Insurance Inc., - Universal Sompo is a uniquely symbolic example of fruitful Public-Private sector partnerships.

USP

Bancassurance, a hugely successful distribution channel, is the USP of our Company; capitalizing on the tremendous reach of this channel Universal Sompo, is perhaps among the first companies to present a plethora of products in the initial years of operation, to suit every need and pocket. Our Company is a pioneer, of sorts too, in introducing all our most popular products on Genisys configurator, a sturdy web based platform. Most of our 90 IRDA approved products are on the configurator and the most popular ones available online on our site. We have excellent health products, both standalone policies and co -branded exclusive products in conjunction with our bank partners, designed exclusively for their customers. We have designed several products for rural/semi urban markets, such as Sampoorna Suraksha Bima Policy, Saral Suraksha Bima Policy , Farmers Package Policy, Cattle & Live Stock Insurance, Janata Personal Accident etc.

Achievements

We were ranked 5th among top 15 non life insurance companies as per the ICMR- BFM survey. IRDA have given accreditation of 3 Agents Training Institute at Raghunathganj, Bangalore and Varanasi. The first of these inaugurated by any general insurance in West Bengal was launched at the hands of Hon’ble Finance Minister Shri Pranab Mukherhjee in Feb 2011. The successful passing of 100 IRDA licensed agents and launch of our micro insurance health product ‘Saral Suraksha’ was also at the hands of the Union Finance Minister on 9th June 2012. We are happy to mention that we were the first amongst the general insurance companies to implement the Integrated Grievance Management System – realtime/online grievance reporting system implemented by IRDA for all insurance companies. We are privileged to provide first rate services to our customers and to this end, have been successful in ensuring that minimal/nil grievances remain unresolved.

On 14th February 2015, we were conferred with prestigious 94.3 My FM stars of the industry award for excellence in General Insurance in the ceremony held at Taj Lands End, Mumbai. It is a great privilege for the company and proud moment for our esteemed customers, channel partners, officials & others associated with us.

Licensing

The Company received the license and certificate of registration from Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority in November 2007. Thank you for visiting our site.
